Louisa Potter Pilates is a fully equipped home Pilates studio at the foot of the Port Hills in Huntsbury, Christchurch. It's run by Louisa Potter, a former dancer who taught Pilates in London for nearly 20 years before returning home to Christchurch with her husband and two boys to open her own studio.
Louisa's approach starts from the belief that fitness needs to be something you actually enjoy for it to become part of your life — a philosophy shaped by her own background in dance. Over the last 20 years she has worked with a wide variety of clients across many settings, from high-level athletes and dancers managing injuries, to people wanting to enhance performance or simply move through the day without pain.
Her method starts with correcting posture as a simple starting point; once postural issues are addressed, other problems generally begin to disappear and real gains can be made. Every programme at the studio is individually tailored to the client's needs and continually progressed alongside them.

Louisa's philosophy is simple: everyone knows fitness is good for you, but for it to actually become part of your life, it has to be something you enjoy doing. As a former dancer, Pilates made complete sense to her both mentally and physically — a way of moving that felt natural rather than forced.
Over the past 20 years, she's worked with a huge variety of clients across many different settings — from high-level athletes and dancers managing injuries, to people simply wanting to get through the day without pain, and everyone in between.
Louisa's approach begins with a simple starting point: correcting posture. Once postural issues are addressed, she's found that other problems generally start to disappear, and real gains can follow. At her fully equipped studio, every programme is individually tailored to each person's needs and continually progressed alongside the client, rather than following a one-size-fits-all format.
After nearly two decades teaching in London, Louisa returned home to Christchurch, where she and her family now live at the foot of the Port Hills. Opening her own home Pilates studio here let her focus fully on the individual, building programmes specifically tailored to each client rather than running large group classes.
