About Wa-En Wagyu Yakiniku

Wa-En Wagyu Yakiniku is a Japanese yakiniku restaurant specialising in premium A4 and A5 Wagyu beef from Miyazaki, Japan. Its flagship restaurant has operated in Hong Kong for more than 10 years and was recommended in the Michelin Guide in both 2016 and 2017. Wa-En's first Singapore outlet is located at the heart of Jewel Changi Airport, bringing the same focus on premium Japanese yakiniku alongside an exquisite Wa-En Bar experience.

The restaurant's interior uses delicate Japanese wood tones for a minimalist, elegant composition, with booth seats and private rooms designed for comfort and privacy. The yakiniku grills are imported from Japan and use a furnace structure with a net surface and downdraft exhaust system, designed to avoid a heavy cooking smell during the meal.

Away from the grill, the Wa-En Bar offers an assortment of wines, Japanese whiskeys, sakes and crafted cocktails — including cocktails using Miyazaki fats infused in whiskey — best paired with yakiniku meats, alongside a selection of non-yakiniku Japanese small plates. Wa-En is a concept by EN Group.

Wa-En Wagyu Yakiniku: Michelin-Recommended Miyazaki Wagyu at Jewel Changi Airport

Wa-En Wagyu Yakiniku brings a Hong Kong dining concept with more than a decade of history to Singapore, opening its first local outlet at the heart of Jewel Changi Airport. The flagship Hong Kong restaurant was recommended in the Michelin Guide in both 2016 and 2017, and Wa-En has built its reputation around one thing in particular: premium, delicate A4 and A5 Wagyu beef from Miyazaki, Japan.

What Makes Miyazaki Wagyu Different

According to Wa-En, true Miyazaki Wagyu must meet three conditions — it must be Kuroge wagyu (Japanese Black cattle), born and raised in Miyazaki prefecture, and graded level 4 or 5 by the Japan Meat Grading Association. Miyazaki is Japan's second-largest wagyu-producing prefecture, and its wagyu has won Japan's 'Wagyu Olympics' — the Zenkoku Wagyu Noryoku Kyoshinkai, held every five years — three times in a row, a record the region still holds. Miyazaki Wagyu has also featured on the Oscars' dining menu and been awarded as a prize in Japanese sumo competitions, underlining its reputation both in Japan and abroad.

The Dining Experience

Wa-En's Singapore restaurant carries over the design language of its Hong Kong original: delicate Japanese wood tones, a minimalist and elegant composition, and a layout built for comfort and privacy with booth seats and private rooms. The yakiniku grills themselves are imported from Japan, using a furnace structure with a net surface and downdraft exhaust system specifically designed to avoid the heavy smoke smell often associated with tabletop grilling.

The Menu

Diners can choose between two set courses — the Premium Course at $88 per pax and the Deluxe Course at $128 per pax, both requiring a minimum of two guests — each moving through appetisers, a yakiniku selection, a choice of rice or noodles, and dessert. For those who prefer to order à la carte, Wa-En offers a range of Wagyu Beef Platters for sharing, from the $90 Wagyu Lean Beef Platter through to the $158 Luxury Wagyu Beef Platter and seven-type Wagyu Beef Platter, alongside individually priced cuts such as the Miyazaki A4-A5 Wagyu Sirloin ($68) and Ribeye ($75).

Beyond wagyu, the menu covers Hokkaido pork belly, Iberico pork jowl, chicken thigh and Arabiki sausage, plus a seafood selection including prawns, scallops, baby abalone and Japan Murotsu Bay oysters. A dedicated Signatures section features standout dishes such as the Seared Miyazaki Wagyu Sushi with Sea Urchin, a lightly torched A4-A5 wagyu sushi topped with uni. A separate weekday lunch menu is also available from $16++, though it is not valid on public holidays, alongside a Weekday Value Course Menu and a Wagyu Buffet Menu.

The Wa-En Bar

Away from the grill, the Wa-En Bar offers an assortment of wines, Japanese whiskeys, sakes and crafted cocktails, including drinks that use Miyazaki fats infused in whiskey — a distinctive touch built specifically to pair with the restaurant's yakiniku. The bar also recommends non-yakiniku Japanese small plates for those who want a lighter accompaniment to their drinks.
