O.G.B Bar & Restaurant is a speakeasy-style bar and restaurant at 28 Cathedral Square in the Christchurch central city. It is housed in a heritage building on the square, and the bar is named after Christchurch's old streets and the Old Government Building. The venue is dog-friendly, with bowls for water and beer. Parlour, a private dimly lit room, is available for functions.
The menu includes beer-battered fish and chips, a 280-gram Canterbury angus ribeye, steak frites, beetroot and gin salmon, grilled lamb belly skewers and octopus. Sharing options include a tasting platter at $80 as at 2026. Dishes are marked for gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan options. The food menu runs until 10pm, and some late-night dishes are served until 1am. Live music is played on weekends. Open Locally lists 17 other bars within a kilometre, including The Church Pub, Paddy McNaughton's Irish Pub, The Last Word and Austin Club. The first three are 0.1 km away and the fourth is 0.2 km away. Our pick in Cathedral Square for a late cocktail and a bite.
