Kins Physio & Pilates is a boutique physiotherapy clinic at 501 Bishan St. 11, #01-374, Bishan, built around evidence-based, physiotherapist-led care. The name comes from 'kinship,' reflecting the clinic's focus on strong relationships between body and mind, between clients and therapists, and within the community.
The clinic is led by two Principal Physiotherapists. Melissa Sim brings over 12 years of experience from one of Singapore's largest acute hospitals, and is a Certified Lymphoedema Therapist and Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Certified practitioner, holding a Master's in Palliative Care alongside Polestar Pilates Rehabilitation training. Irene Chu also brings over 12 years of experience from Singapore General Hospital across orthopaedic, musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary and intensive rehabilitation settings, and serves as Associate Faculty at the Singapore Institute of Technology, with certifications in clinical exercise physiology and obesity management.
Services span musculoskeletal physiotherapy, neurological rehabilitation, chronic disease management, pre- and post-op orthopaedic rehabilitation, geriatric rehabilitation and falls prevention, weight management, cancer rehabilitation, clinical Pilates, lymphoedema management, and home therapy for clients who prefer or require treatment at home. Sessions run strictly by appointment, booked via call or WhatsApp.
At 501 Bishan St. 11, Kins Physio & Pilates takes its name from 'kinship' — a deliberate choice reflecting the clinic's approach to care. Rather than treating physiotherapy as a purely clinical transaction, the boutique clinic frames its work around relationships: between body and mind, between client and therapist, and within the wider community it serves.
The clinic is led by Melissa Sim and Irene Chu, both bringing over a decade of hospital-based clinical experience to their private practice. Melissa spent more than 12 years at one of Singapore's largest acute hospitals, rotating through multiple specialties before her own family's experience with breast cancer led her to become a Certified Lymphoedema Therapist and Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Certified practitioner. She holds a Master's in Palliative Care and has trained in Polestar Pilates Rehabilitation, which she uses particularly with breast cancer patients and those recovering from joint replacements.
Irene spent over 12 years at Singapore General Hospital across orthopaedic, musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary and intensive rehabilitation settings, and led the hospital's Obesity and Chronic Disease Management Team. She's also contributed to national guideline development as a member of the National Diabetes Reference Materials Workgroup, and has served as Associate Faculty at the Singapore Institute of Technology since 2022, teaching modules in clinical exercise prescription and exercise physiology.
Kins Physio & Pilates covers musculoskeletal physiotherapy for muscle, joint and soft tissue conditions, neurological rehabilitation for conditions like stroke, Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis, and chronic disease management through tailored exercise programmes for diabetes, osteoporosis and cardiac conditions.
For patients recovering from surgery, pre- and post-op orthopaedic rehabilitation supports recovery from fractures and joint replacements, while geriatric rehabilitation and falls prevention training focus on maintaining mobility and reducing pain for older clients. Weight management support uses exercise routines designed to minimise muscle loss and build confidence, with modifications available for heavier individuals.
Given the clinic's founders' backgrounds, cancer rehabilitation and lymphoedema management are particular areas of depth. Cancer rehabilitation support spans all stages of treatment and recovery, addressing fatigue, pain and mobility challenges, while lymphoedema management includes manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy and targeted exercise programmes to reduce swelling and improve circulation.
Clinical Pilates rounds out the service list, using a Pilates-based physiotherapy approach to strengthen core muscles and improve flexibility and posture — suitable both for injury prevention and rehabilitation. For clients who can't make it into the clinic, Home Therapy brings mobile physiotherapy directly to a client's doorstep, whether they're recovering from surgery, managing a chronic condition, or working on strength and mobility.
Kins Physio & Pilates operates strictly by appointment, bookable via call or WhatsApp. Opening hours run Monday to Thursday from 10am to 8pm, Friday from 10am to 6pm, and Saturday from 10am to 3pm, with the clinic closed on Sundays and public holidays. It's worth noting that the clinic may occasionally close during its listed hours to attend to home therapy sessions, so confirming availability before a visit is worthwhile.
For Bishan residents and anyone in Singapore seeking physiotherapist-led care with genuine depth in oncology, lymphoedema and chronic disease management, Kins Physio & Pilates offers a personalised, relationship-focused alternative to a larger hospital-based physiotherapy department.
