Kings Cart Coffee Factory is a working roastery café in the heart of the Joo Chiat heritage district, where the rich aroma of beans roasted on-site meets an industrial-chic space that honours the neighbourhood's roots. It is a fully operational roastery first and foremost — a place built around small-batch, specialty coffee made with technical precision and designed to be approachable.
Guests get a front-row seat to the roasting process while settling in for creative brunch plates and Singapore-inspired signature drinks such as the Coconut Latte, made with gula melaka and creamy coconut cream and finished with toasted coconut flakes. Real coffee trees grown from cherries picked across Asia and the mountains of Yunnan, along with lush greenery and soft earthy elements, give the room an inviting, homely feel.
The café grew out of Kings Cart Coffee's earlier life as a premier mobile coffee cart service for weddings and events, and was born in 2020 when the pandemic brought events to a standstill. Today the team — working together for more than eight years and now counted among the East's most popular cafés — serves dine-in, takeaway and delivery daily from 9am to 5pm.
Along Joo Chiat Road, in one of Singapore's most characterful heritage neighbourhoods, Kings Cart Coffee Factory does something most cafés don't: it roasts its own beans on-site, right where you drink them. The team calls it a working roastery café designed for approachable specialty coffee — an industrial-chic space that honours the neighbourhood's roots, filled with the rich, inviting aroma of beans coming off the roaster.
The experience is deliberately immersive. The roaster sits at the front of the café — a piece of machinery the menu describes as silent and majestic — and guests get a front-row seat to the roasting process while they eat and drink. Real coffee trees, grown from cherries picked in parts of Asia and the mountains of Yunnan, share the room with lush greenery and soft earthy elements, creating what the team describes as an inviting, homely environment.
Kings Cart Coffee's story began not in a shopfront but on the move. For years the team ran what they describe as Singapore's premier mobile coffee service, fueling weddings and events across the island from a humble coffee cart. The mobility was loved — but the dream was to deepen the craft.
That chance arrived, improbably, in 2020. When the pandemic brought events to a standstill and major bookings were postponed or cancelled, the team pooled a stockpile of coffee machinery, beans and creative minds — and the concept for Kings Cart Coffee Factory was born.
Today the Factory operates as a specialized roasting facility that manages the entire coffee lifecycle. By controlling everything from the roaster to your doorstep, the team applies technical precision so every cup is consistent, high quality and easy to enjoy — factory-fresh, as they put it. Many of the people behind the bar have worked together for more than eight years, and the café has quickly become one of the most popular in the East.
At the heart of the menu is the Coconut Latte, a Singapore signature created as an homage to the café's Joo Chiat home. Smooth, bold espresso is mixed with gula melaka — sweet, aromatic palm sugar — and creamy coconut cream, then finished with toasted coconut flakes. It is rich and indulgent, and every sip, the menu suggests, feels like walking through the colourful streets of the neighbourhood. An iced version is available too.
Around that signature, the kitchen turns out creative brunch plates, while the bar pours small-batch brews from the roastery's single origins — including Colombia Supremo, Ethiopia Sidamo and a Colombia Popayán Decaf for later in the day.
Because this is a full-stack roastery, the coffee travels well. The same beans poured at the bar are sold as retail bags, alongside coffee subscriptions for regular doorstep deliveries and coffee machines for home brewers. A loyalty program rewards regulars with points on every purchase, online or in stores.
Kings Cart Coffee Factory is located at 328 Joo Chiat Road, #01-05, Singapore 427585, in the heart of the Joo Chiat heritage district — a definitive East Coast destination, in the team's words, designed for connecting over small-batch specialty brews in a dynamic setting. Doors open daily from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Sunday, an early-closing schedule worth planning around.
There are three ways to enjoy it: dine in among the greenery and the roaster's quiet theatre, order takeaway, or get the café's food and drinks delivered. Tables can be reserved in advance through Chope, which is handy for brunch. Come for the signature Coconut Latte, stay for the roast-day aromas, and leave with a bag of freshly roasted beans if you're so moved.
