Giovi Fine Food in Frankton has been serving Queenstown locals and visitors authentic Italian cuisine since 2020, founded by Giovanna, who grew up in the food and hospitality industry with a family business dating back to the sixties. The restaurant showcases the freshest local produce alongside premium imports direct from Italy, describing its food as comfort dining — relaxed and delicious.
Giovi's menu centres on fresh pasta and authentic pizzas, with a rich Angus beef sauce slow-cooked for its lasagne, and sandwich fillings combined for maximum flavour. Pasta and focaccia bread are made fresh daily using high-grade flour, free-range eggs and extra virgin olive oil, and the wine list includes fine Italian wine served directly from the family's own vineyard, La Montina, in Italy.
The Frankton location offers ample free parking, an outdoor dining area with afternoon sun, and an enclosed gazebo available for private groups, alongside cosy indoor dining that fills up quickly. Giovi is part of a small group of restaurants that also includes Farelli's in Queenstown, Bianca in Arrowtown, and Bambina in Wānaka.
Giovi Fine Food has been serving Queenstown locals and visitors authentic Italian cuisine since 2020, from its Frankton location in the Remarkables Park Town Centre area. The restaurant is the creation of founder Giovanna, who grew up immersed in food and hospitality — her family ran a successful business dating back to the sixties, and many of her close relatives still own and operate food and wine businesses throughout Italy.
Giovanna opened her first shop just months before COVID, a challenging start softened by the support of a dedicated team. Since then, she has expanded to run four restaurants across the region — Giovi and Farelli's in Queenstown, Bianca in Arrowtown, and the newest addition, Bambina in Wānaka — all built around the same commitment to quality and service, and the belief that taking extra time, honouring traditional methods and paying close attention to detail is what makes the food special.
At the heart of Giovi's menu is fresh pasta and focaccia bread, made daily using high-grade flour, free-range eggs and extra virgin olive oil. The kitchen slow-cooks an Angus beef sauce to create a rich lasagne, and combines sandwich fillings for maximum flavour and complexity. Alongside the food, Giovi pours fine Italian wine served directly from Giovanna's own family vineyard, La Montina, in Italy — a genuine link back to her roots.
Giovi's food philosophy rests on three pillars: always fresh, sourced in season, and authentically Italian. Sourcing the best ingredients takes time and dedication, something the team says it takes seriously, combining local produce with premium imported products from Italy to keep the menu true to its origins.
The Frankton restaurant offers ample free parking, an outdoor dining area that catches the afternoon sun, and an enclosed gazebo available for private group bookings. Cosy indoor dining fills up quickly, so bookings are highly recommended for anyone planning a visit.
For those who'd rather eat at home, Giovi's menu is available for delivery through Delivereasy and Uber Eats, or guests can call ahead to pre-order and pick up in person. Gift vouchers are also available for anyone wanting to share the Giovi experience.
Giovi Fine Food is located at Shop 1, Building 10/12 Hawthorne Drive, Frankton, Queenstown. It's open Tuesday to Saturday from 12pm to 3pm and again from 4pm to 8pm, and closed on Sundays and Mondays. The restaurant can be reached by phone for bookings, pre-orders and general enquiries.
