Holistic Mind Body is the home clinic of Myffie, a body therapist and counsellor based on the hill overlooking Stoke, Nelson. Her interest in health and wellbeing began during university studies in the late 1980s, where she completed a BSc covering physiology, parasitology, ecology and geology, before going on to train extensively in body-based and psychotherapeutic approaches.
Myffie holds a Diploma in Holistic Pulsing (2004), training in massage and Upledger Craniosacral Therapy (Levels 1 and 2), and is a graduate of Hakomi Psychotherapy (2014). She also holds a Diploma in Teaching (1992), which supports her work not only with clients but as a trainer for Holistic Pulsing students through Holistic Health Training Ltd, an organisation she has been involved with since its inception in 2003.
Drawing on this "kete" of skills gathered over decades, Myffie supports clients' wellbeing through body therapy and counselling, encouraging body awareness, gentle inner exploration, and a compassionate connection with self.
Holistic Mind Body is the home clinic of Myffie, a body therapist and counsellor based on the hill overlooking Stoke, Nelson. Her path into this work started young, or at least academically, back in the late 1980s, when she completed a BSc covering physiology, parasitology, ecology and geology at university. Even then, she was drawn to understanding how living systems function, adapt and find balance — a thread that runs through her work today.
Over the decades since, Myffie has built up what she describes as a "kete" — a basket of skills gathered through years of training. She holds a Diploma in Holistic Pulsing from 2004, has trained in massage and in Upledger Craniosacral Therapy at both Levels 1 and 2, studied anatomy and physiology, worked with The Journey approach developed by Brandon Bays, and graduated in Hakomi Psychotherapy in 2014. She also holds a Diploma in Teaching from 1992, a qualification that clearly shapes her approach to both client work and training others.
Two modalities sit at the centre of Myffie's practice: Holistic Pulsing and Hakomi Psychotherapy. Holistic Pulsing is a body-based therapy she has practised since gaining her diploma in 2004, while Hakomi is a body-centred psychotherapy approach she completed training in as recently as 2014. Together, these inform the way she works with clients — encouraging body awareness, gentle inner exploration, and a compassionate connection with self through a combination of body therapy and counselling.
Myffie's Diploma in Teaching isn't just a historical qualification — it actively shapes her ongoing work. Alongside seeing clients, she teaches and supports students as they move through Holistic Pulsing training, working for Holistic Health Training Ltd, an organisation she has been involved with since its founding in 2003. She describes it as a privilege to witness her students' growth, and her long association with the organisation speaks to a genuine investment in the professionalism and integrity of the training it offers.
Holistic Mind Body's offering extends beyond individual therapy sessions and training for practitioners. The website also features an Enhancing Relationships Course, giving those interested in relationship-focused work another way to engage with Myffie's approach beyond individual body therapy or counselling sessions.
Rather than operating from a clinical or commercial space, Myffie sees clients from her home clinic, located on the hill overlooking Stoke, Nelson. That setting fits naturally with the gentle, personal nature of the work she describes — body awareness and inner exploration are, by their nature, best supported in a calm, unhurried environment.
Anyone interested in booking a session, finding out more about Holistic Pulsing training, or asking about the Enhancing Relationships Course can contact Myffie directly by phone at 0211548986 or by email at [email protected]. The Holistic Mind Body website also features a Clients Say section and a Resources blog for those wanting to learn more about her approach before getting in touch.
