Whitford's is the café, bar and restaurant at the Woolston Club, a long-standing community and entertainment club at 43 Hargood Street, Woolston. The club traces back to 1953, when the Woolston Working Men's Club was first proposed at a community meeting, with the original building (now the Kellaway Bar) officially opened in December 1956. The Courtyard Bar & Restaurant, now known as Whitford's Bar, followed in 1974, and the club now sits on landscaped grounds with award-winning gardens and sports facilities.
Within Whitford's, the Rusty Bumper Bistro serves bistro and café meals in a cosy, family-friendly dining environment, open Wednesday to Sunday from 11am, with a Roast Carvery running Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from 6pm. The Whitford's café side is open every day from 11am, serving freshly made cabinet food and barista coffee, with outdoor seating overlooking a child-friendly play area.
You don't need to be a club member to dine at Whitford's or attend its weekly entertainment, though members receive food and beverage discounts, access to the club's wider facilities, and reciprocal visiting rights at other Clubs New Zealand venues.
