About Hachi Hachi

Hachi Hachi is a Japanese restaurant at the Bush Inn Centre, on the corner of Riccarton and Waimairi roads in Upper Riccarton, Christchurch. Its name means eighty-eight, which the restaurant says is a number of good fortune. It is best known for sushi burgers, crispy karaage and tonkotsu ramen, and its menu runs to more than 50 dishes.

The menu includes bento value sets, udon noodle soups, dry and soup ramen with chashu pork, teppanyaki chicken and Shogun beef, a thick-cut pork cutlet, and salmon sashimi. There is a kids menu, and the menu marks gluten-friendly, vegetarian and vegan dishes. Customers can order online for pickup or delivery. Guests write that the karaage is crisp, the ramen rich and the bento boxes quick to collect. Within a kilometre, Open Locally lists two other Japanese restaurants, Sakura Japanese Cuisine and Ramen Miyako, both 0.2 to 0.3 kilometres away, with no rating on Open Locally. Our view is that it is a good local choice for a Japanese lunch or dinner in Upper Riccarton.
