Tanya was raised in France, and she will tell you crafting has been part of her life for as long as she can remember. As a child she killed boredom with a pencil and a sheet of paper, filling the hours with drawing, origami, comics, photo albums and handmade gifts for the people she loved. When study time came, though, she chose psychology over art, and enjoyed it — university projects, exams, the whole cycle. In the end, she felt her days were missing creativity.
Life rearranged things. She met her partner, who is British, and moved to the UK. In September 2017 her daughter was born, a step she describes as life-changing, and in January 2018 Little Loop was founded after she successfully created and sold pieces that friends had asked her to make. The studio has been producing bespoke paper work ever since, and its showcase promises that more is coming very soon.

Lily wanted a cover for her newborn son Solal's scrapbook and suggested birds as inspiration. Tanya started with questions — the size of the scrapbook, the atmosphere she pictured, a little about Solal — and sketched two big circles of rainbow origami birds circling his name. The idea proved too big for an A5, so she pared it back: turquoise and purple, a golden grid drawn in between, birds with golden beaks, squares of washi balanced against plain cuts. Solal's name was written with a China-ink pen, the borders finished in gold. Once Lily approved a photo of the finished cover, it was wrapped in tissue paper, sealed in a padded envelope and posted. Both covers she ordered took five working days to make, and Lily received hers in France four days after posting.
