Rutland Street Church is a Bible-teaching church in St Albans, Christchurch, at 12 Rutland Street. It grew out of an early 1900s outreach to children and young people, begun by a group of Open Plymouth Brethren in Armagh Street, and it later became an independent church. It has since planted two other churches, in Bryndwr and Burwood. Its Sunday family and worship service runs from 10 am to 11:30 am, with singing in both traditional and contemporary styles, communion and Bible teaching. The service is also streamed online. A free, supervised creche runs during the service throughout the year, except in the Christmas school holidays, and there is a room for parents with babies. Kidzone runs a programme for children up to Year 8.
Families say the church feels warm and welcoming, with people who are genuine and friendly. One long-time member has been part of the church since 2018 and praises the many activities for children to grow in their faith. Another calls it a great family church with good biblical teaching and a fantastic children's programme. Youth services are held on a Sunday evening about once a term. The office is open Monday to Thursday, 9 am to 4 pm, and Friday, 9 am to 12 pm. For a family in St Albans who wants a church with a strong children's programme, it is a good place to visit.
