A privately run Montessori preschool at 108 Racecourse Road, near Riccarton Racecourse, for children aged 2 to 6. Its programme blends the Montessori method with Te Whāriki, and the Montessori approach is adapted to the needs of the young New Zealand child. The centre is licensed for 27 children.
The centre is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm. Its building was renovated to create a larger, open-plan space. The centre says it has a low child-to-teacher ratio, and that its teachers are all registered and 100% qualified in early childhood education. The centre manager is fully qualified in Montessori education, and two teachers are in training.
Parents are encouraged to contribute to the programme and can drop in at any time, under an open-door policy. The centre supports children's independence and values all cultures. Open Locally lists two other childcare centres within a kilometre: Barnardos Early Learning Centre Hornby Pasifika, about 0.8 km away, and Church Corner Nest, about 0.9 km away.
