At 97 Wainui Street in Riccarton, close enough to Riccarton Bush to hear the birds, BestStart Riccarton describes itself as one big family. The website says the centre has been part of the Riccarton community for more than 10 years, shares kai together, and celebrates cultural festivals with families. Its aim is a welcoming, exciting and safe atmosphere, built on relationships with children and their families. Visits can be booked through the website, with a preferred time chosen between 9am and 3pm.
Customers describe the staff as wonderful, going above and beyond. One parent staying in Christchurch for six weeks for work says the centre was more than accommodating with requested dates. Another says the teachers and centre manager gave advice and help with behaviour, and that their daughter loves the teachers. One customer raises concerns about incidents over about three months, which they say were not handled appropriately. Views are mixed.
