MADE Cafe is an all-day cafe on Bremner Road in Wharekawa, serving its full cafe menu Wednesday through Sunday from 8am to 4pm. The kitchen covers modern cafe brunch from every angle: shakshuka and eggs on toast in the morning, bagels and panini at lunch, salads and bowls in between, and waffles, ice cream and a bakery cabinet whenever the mood strikes.
Drinks are a genuine drawcard. Alongside a full coffee line-up — flat whites through to iced pistachio lattes — MADE pours a dedicated matcha menu with sparkling, coconut-foam and banana variations, plus smoothies, milkshakes, Whittaker's hot chocolate, T2 teas and Karma organic soft drinks.
For busy days there's ordering via Uber Eats and a pre-order Healthy Options menu on the website, and the cafe also lists venue hire for events.
MADE Cafe operates from Bremner Road in Wharekawa, and its rhythm is easy to remember: the cafe menu is served Wednesday through Sunday, 8am to 4pm, with Monday and Tuesday closed. Because the menu runs all day, the same plate of shakshuka you'd order at 8.30am is there at 2.45pm, right alongside waffles and ice cream if that's more your speed.
The all-day menu is a tour through modern cafe brunch. Eggs come your style on sourdough, or folded into a croissant breakfast sandwich with swiss cheese, sliced tomato, avocado and mesclun. The Classic Shakshuka pairs poached eggs with a cumin-spiced tomato sauce, bell peppers and onions, finished with feta and parsley and served with sourdough for scooping. The Cyrus Tamagoyaki Omelette adds a Japanese note with eggs, spinach, spam and a cheese blend, while the Mediterranean Hummus Bowl layers a sunny egg over hummus with cucumbers, roasted peppers, chickpeas and feta.
Bagels are a point of pride. The BLAT stacks bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato with sriracha mayo; the Smoke Salmon Bagel fills a seeded bagel with smoked salmon, cream cheese, cucumbers and capers; and the Boss Bagel piles on bacon, pizza cheese and onion relish with a fried egg. If choice paralysis strikes, Build Your Own Bagel puts you in charge.
Elsewhere on the menu: the Maple Labneh Chicken Panini with cranberries in a bap, the Chicken Pesto Caprese Panini with mozzarella and balsamic glaze, a three-cheese Grilled Cheese Sando on sourdough, and the Beef Melt — a patty with caramelised onion, spinach, melted swiss cheese, sweet chilli and mayo — which you can order as a DOUBLE. Lighter paths include the Autumn Maple Chicken Salad with roasted pumpkin, almonds and dried cranberries in maple labneh dressing, the Chicken Pita with green goddess dressing, and the Acai Berry Bowl with banana, coconut flakes, granola, fresh berries and almond butter. Egg your way, bacon and avocado are on hand as add-ons.
The Bakery/Sweets list is its own argument for visiting: croissants, almond croissants, pain au chocolat, apricot and raisin danishes, blueberry muffins and a chunky choc peanut cookie. For something colder, the ice cream menu offers Double Chocolate, Cookies & Cream and Strawberry Swirl in single or double scoops, and the Pistachio Strawberry Waffle arrives with your choice of ice cream flavour.
Coffee is taken seriously — flat white, cappuccino, latte and mocha in small and large, short and long blacks, an americano, and iced takes including an iced pistachio latte, with extra shot, alternative milk, flavoured syrup or decaf available as add-ons.
But matcha has its own section: hot and iced matcha lattes, Iced Sparkling Matcha, Honey Lemon Sparkling Matcha, the Iced Coconut Matcha Cloud with its coconut foam, Ice Strawberry Coconut Matcha, the Dirty Matcha, and an Iced Banana Matcha Latte finished with coconut foam.
Non-coffee drinkers are looked after too. Smoothies include the All Black — banana, chia seeds, black sesame, goji berries, coconut milk and activated charcoal — the Salted Almond Banana Protein Punch built on NZ whey protein, and Berrylicious on oat milk, with chocolate and strawberry milkshakes for the traditionalists. Hot chocolate comes classic or made with Whittaker's, hot or iced, the T2 tea selection runs from English Breakfast to peppermint, and the fridge holds the Karma range of organic cola, lemonade and juices. The Fluffy with a jumbo marshmallow — extra marshmallow, of course — rounds it out.
MADE Cafe opens Wednesday to Sunday, 8am to 4pm, so time your visit around the Monday and Tuesday closure. Short on time? You can order via Uber Eats, or use the pre-order Healthy Options menu on the cafe's website to arrange food ahead. The cafe also lists venue hire for anyone looking to book the space. Whether the plan is shakshuka and a flat white, a bagel and a sparkling matcha, or a waffle with a scoop on the side, it's all on one all-day menu on Bremner Road.
