nomVnom Bistro is a fully vegan fast-food bistro on level 3 of Clarke Quay Central at 6 Eu Tong Sen Street, about a minute's walk from Clarke Quay MRT. Established in February 2015 and founded by Dr Ng Wai Lek — vegetarian since 1989 and vegan since 2015 — its mission is mouth-watering modern vegan fast food that appeals to vegans and non-vegans alike: burgers, pizzas, pastas, udon and rice dishes, banh mi, salads, soups and smoothies, plus rotating seasonal specials.
The kitchen takes its craft seriously. Burger buns are handmade from unbleached white flour, unrefined sugar, natural yeast, sea salt and filtered water, then toasted for a healthier, non-greasy bite. Patties — some imported, some made in-house — are built from soy, potatoes, mixed vegetables or mushrooms and are free from dairy, eggs, onions, garlic and alcohol. Soups are made fresh daily with no preservatives, artificial flavouring or colouring, and bakes like the popular banana cake and chocolate muffins follow the same clean approach.
Set meals are the easy way in, from the Burger Set and Xtreme Burger Set Meal to sharing Pizza Party Meals and Pasta Sets, with a fries trio — straight-cut, sweet potato and truffle fries with housemade truffle mayo dip — completing most tables' orders. Ingredients are carefully sourced, from premium truffle oil and organic decaffeinated fair-trade coffee to organic pasta, Japanese rice, white Japanese miso and premium uji matcha and hojicha powder. The bistro is open 11.30am to 9.30pm Sunday to Thursday (last order 9pm) and 11.30am to 10.30pm on Friday and Saturday (last order 10pm). Tables can be reserved by calling +65 6224 4996, and the Clarke Quay branch also takes delivery orders through its own online store.
Hop off the MRT at Clarke Quay, take Exit F, ride the escalators from Central Basement 1 up to level 3, and you are standing in nomVnom Bistro — a plant-based fast-food kitchen that has been part of Clarke Quay Central since February 2015. It was founded by Dr Ng Wai Lek, a PhD holder who has been vegetarian since 1989 and fully vegan since 2015, and it wears its mission openly: to make modern vegan fast food so mouth-watering that vegans and non-vegans alike keep coming back.
The menu reads like fast-food comfort: burgers, pizzas, pastas, udon and rice dishes, banh mi, salads, soups and smoothies, with seasonal specials rotating through the year. But the details are unusually careful. Burger buns are handmade from unbleached white flour, unrefined sugar, natural yeast, sea salt and filtered water, then toasted rather than greased for a healthier, non-greasy bite. Patties — some imported, some made in-house — are built from soy, potatoes, mixed vegetables or mushrooms, and every one is free from dairy, eggs, onions, garlic and alcohol.
The care extends across the menu. Soups are made fresh daily with no preservatives, artificial flavouring or colouring. Pastries such as the popular banana cake and chocolate muffins are vegan and likewise free of artificial anything. Even the store cupboard is curated: premium truffle oil, organic coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, fortified nutritional yeast, bone char-free sugar, Japanese rice, organic pasta, organic rice and soy milk, fresh coconut milk, premium uji matcha and hojicha powder, white Japanese miso, and high-quality pine, almond and cashew nuts. The decaf coffee is organic and fair trade.
First-timers usually start with a set. The Burger Set is the classic combo, the Xtreme Burger Set Meal is the choice for serious appetites, and the Double Omni + Ramly Burger Set covers two plant-based burgers in one go. Pizza night is handled by the Pizza Party Meals — Omni, Truffle, Popeye and MSW versions — built for sharing, while Pasta Sets cover the Italian lean and the udon and rice dishes give the menu its Asian side.
No fast-food meal is complete without fries, and nomVnom offers a trio: regular straight-cut, a healthier sweet potato version, and luxurious truffle fries served with a housemade truffle mayo dip. Save room for a slice of banana cake — it has earned its place as a house favourite.
nomVnom is deliberately casual — a bright, friendly fast-food bistro rather than a fine-dining room, which makes it an easy stop whether you are shopping in Clarke Quay Central, refuelling mid-afternoon, or settling in for dinner before a riverside evening. Hours run from 11.30am to 9.30pm Sunday to Thursday, with last orders at 9pm, and from 11.30am to 10.30pm on Friday and Saturday, when the kitchen takes last orders at 10pm. If you are arriving during peak periods, a quick call to +65 6224 4996 will reserve a table and cut your waiting time.
Getting there could hardly be easier. From Clarke Quay MRT Exit F you step straight into Central Basement 1, and the escalators on the right carry you up to level 3 — about a minute in total. Drivers coming from Eu Tong Sen Street or Church Street turn left into Tew Chew Street, make a U-turn at the end of the road and follow the carpark signs. Can't make it in person? The Clarke Quay branch takes delivery orders through its own online store, so the burgers can come to you.
Above all, nomVnom sees itself as part of something bigger. The team frames its work as playing a part in the sustainability movement — promoting plant-based fast food to help Mother Earth and the animals while keeping the world spinning. You do not have to share the philosophy to enjoy the truffle fries, but it is hard to leave without feeling that a fully vegan fast-food menu, done this thoughtfully, is a pretty convincing argument.
