Picolino Orchard
restaurant — Orchard · Singapore
About Picolino Orchard
Picolino sits on level 3 of Shaw Centre, a short step off Orchard Road, and does something a little different with Italian food. The restaurant calls itself the quirky, right-brained genius of the family — a kitchen that takes familiar comfort food and runs it through a Southeast Asian flavour filter, giving everyday pizzas and pastas an upgrade away from humdrum Italian fare. It started, the team says, with a love of all things carbs, 'the antidote to our mundane life'.
The menu proves the point. Twelve-inch pizzas pair smoked burratina and honey tomato on one end of the list with satay chicken in house-made peanut sauce, salmon mentaiko with ikura and nori, and longanisa sausage with pineapple and apple chutney on the other. Pastas travel the same line: cacio e pepe mafalde and a six-hour braised beef cheek pappardelle sit alongside beef rendang rigatoni and kam heong vongole linguine. Mains like braised beef cheek and chicken cacciatore round things out, and dessert brings a table-side tiramisu made with Italian mascarpone.
From Monday to Thursday an all-day set menu bundles a starter, main, dessert and beverage, with upgrades to grilled New Zealand grass-fed striploin, braised beef cheek or chicken cacciatore. The drinks list runs from mocktails and cocktails to Italian beers and a compact wine list spanning Prosecco, Chianti Classico, Australian shiraz and a Mosel riesling. Reservations are taken online, and takeaway and delivery are available for those who'd rather have the carbs come to them.
Picolino Orchard: Asian-Meets-Italian Pizza & Pasta at Shaw Centre, Singapore
On the third floor of Shaw Centre, a short stroll from Orchard Road's marathon of malls, Picolino is doing something a little different with Italian food. The restaurant calls itself the quirky, right-brained genius of the family — a kitchen that takes familiar comfort food and runs it through a Southeast Asian flavour filter. It started, the team says, with a love of all things carbs, 'the antidote to our mundane life', and the menu reads accordingly: pizzas built on satay sauce and mentaiko mayo, pastas wearing rendang and kam heong, and enough burrata to keep the purists smiling.
The idea, in Picolino's own words, is to give your usual pizzas and pastas a little upgrade and create something apart from humdrum Italian fare. It is pitched as a home for both the free-spirited adventurer and the creature of comfort — anyone, as they put it, who is not a stickler for rules.
An Italian Backbone, an Asian Heart
The 12-inch pizzas are where the mash-up concept shines. Picolino's Margherita is the classic done properly — smoked burratina, tomato passata, honey tomato and basil pesto — while the Satay pizza goes full local, pairing marinated chicken with house-made peanut sauce, pineapple, Bombay onion and cucumber. The Salmon Mentaiko piles salmon, ikura, baby spinach and mentaiko mayo under shreds of nori, and the Longanisa Hawaiian plays sausage against pineapple and apple chutney. For bigger appetites there's the Meat Lover, loaded with wagyu beef ragu, bacon, salami and nduja.
The pasta list keeps both camps happy. Cacio e Pepe Mafalde arrives with burnt butter, pecorino and a fried egg; the Beef Cheek Pappardelle stars Australian beef cheek braised for six hours with wild mushroom and bacon. Then come the signatures: Beef Rendang Rigatoni in a house-made rendang sauce with tomato confit and turmeric leaves, and Kam Heong Vongole Linguine, seasonal clams tossed with chilli, curry leaves and Shao Xing wine. Beyond pasta, the Braised Beef Cheek and Chicken Cacciatore make proper knife-and-fork mains.
Sets, Sweets and Something in the Glass
From Monday to Thursday, an all-day set menu bundles a starter, main, dessert and beverage into one sitting — choose any pizza or pasta, or upgrade to grilled New Zealand grass-fed striploin, braised beef cheek or chicken cacciatore. Dessert is worth saving room for: Picolino's Tiramisu is made with Italian mascarpone and served table-side, the Sundae pairs vanilla gelato with 70% dark chocolate sauce and pistachio crumb, and there's crème caramel and gelato besides.
The drinks list travels the same playful line. Mocktails such as the Cucumber Cooler and Coconujito sit alongside cocktails like the Missed Call (gin, cucumber, orange), Italian beers including Peroni and Angelo Poretti, and a compact wine list running from Prosecco and Chianti Classico to Australian shiraz and a Mosel riesling.
