The restaurant's story began humbly in 1997 as a small eatery at Simpang Bedok under the name Rasa Istimewa Bedok, before moving to a bigger premises at Choa Chu Kang Park in 2002 and undergoing a major refurbishment in 2012 that brought better ambience, décor, and new cuisine to the menu. Rasa Istimewa Woodlands Waterfront opened in 2012, uniquely located on an existing jetty on the Johor Straits — the only restaurant in Singapore in that position, with scenic views of both Johor and Singapore shorelines. SAFRA Jurong, at 333 Boon Lay Way, offers an air-conditioned indoor dining space suited to both casual meals and events, open Sunday to Thursday from 11:30am to 10pm, and Friday, Saturday and eves of public holidays until 11pm. Woodlands Waterfront, at 6A Admiralty Road West, is open every day from midday to 11:30pm, drawing diners in for its jetty-side views over the Johor Straits. Pasir Ris Park, at 201 Pasir Ris Road near Carpark D, is open Sunday to Friday from midday to 11pm, and stays open until midnight on Saturdays, offering a greenery-and-beachfront dining setting.
