A Hot Hideout started in an NTU dorm room in 2020 and has grown into an 11-outlet mala chain across Singapore, backed by a team of over 200. Rather than replicating traditional Sichuan mala, the brand set out to make something new: a Singaporean take built around a soup that's actually meant to be drunk, not just used as a cooking liquid.
The signature is the Mala Collagen Soup, simmered for over 12 hours into a rich, creamy, drinkable broth — the dish that started the concept. Alongside it is the Mala Stir Fry, tossed in a house-made mala sauce for a bolder, drier option, plus non-spicy and kid-friendly choices including a plain Collagen Soup, Tomato Collagen Soup, and Oriental Stir Fry. Diners then build their bowl from over 70 pre-cut ingredients, with standouts like the signature Fluffy Scrambled Eggs and fan-favourite Deep-Fried Potato Chips, Deep-Fried Lotus Root, Cheese Otah, and Luncheon Meat.
Restaurants are spacious with large tables for group gatherings, and there's no service charge added. It's walk-in only across all outlets, with islandwide delivery also available via their own site, GrabFood, and FoodPanda. The chain has been featured by Eatbook, SethLui, HungryGoWhere, The Straits Times, The Business Times, and Forbes, and reviewed positively by food YouTubers including Zermatt Neo, GetFed, and Alderic.
