Club K, also known as Club Kelburn, is home to Wellington city's largest squash club — seven courts, including a glass-back court — alongside a fully equipped gym, sauna, basketball hoops, and dedicated martial arts spaces. The club has been serving the community for 30+ years, positioning itself as a destination for fitness, squash and friendship rather than just a place to book a court.
Beyond the courts and gym floor, Club K runs a pro shop offering gear, restringing and regripping services, backed by expert trainers and coaches who provide personalised support. The club also hosts a regular calendar of squash sessions and programmes, from casual social nights to junior coaching and development squads, catering to players of all skill levels.
Sitting at 65 Salamanca Rd in Kelburn, the club highlights its ideal location, free parking, dog-friendly grounds, city views, and on-site food, snacks and a drinks bar as part of the overall experience. It's supported by sponsors including NZCT, Charles Hornabrook, Pelorus Trust and Squirrel.
Perched on Salamanca Rd in Kelburn, Club K has spent more than 30 years as the local hub for squash, fitness and community in this part of Wellington. It bills itself as home to the city's largest squash club, and the facilities back that up — seven courts in total, including a glass-back court for players who want an audience or a coaching view.
While squash is the anchor, Club K runs as a full fitness facility. There's a fully equipped gym covering cardio, strength and stretch work, a sauna with both private and public session times, two basketball hoops, and dedicated spaces for martial arts — with programmes spanning Judo, Karate, Aikido, Ju Jitsu and more. Expert trainers and coaches are on hand across these areas to give members personalised support rather than a one-size-fits-all programme.
For players who need gear or a racket tune-up, Club K's pro shop stocks rackets, shoes, balls and grips, and offers restringing and regripping services on site — useful for regulars who don't want to send equipment away to get it serviced.
Club K's squash programme runs well beyond casual bookings. Uni Squash Night is a social session on Wednesdays from 7:00PM to 9:00PM, starting 11 March. Juniors aged 7 and up, at any level of experience, have their own dedicated slot with Friday Junior Squash, from 4:00PM to 5:30PM. Sundays are busy too: Development Squads run coaching sessions from 10:00AM to 12:00PM and again from 12:00PM to 2:00PM, followed by Sunday Social Squash for beginners at 3:00PM and for advanced players at 4:30PM. For those chasing an ongoing, semi-social competition, there's also a Squash Ladder, joinable by emailing the club directly.
Club K plays up the day-to-day experience around the sport itself: an ideal location, free parking, a dog-friendly environment, city views, and on-site food, snacks and a drinks bar. New members (or the simply curious) can take advantage of a 7-day free gym trial with no strings attached — a low-commitment way to see whether the club is the right fit before signing up.
Club K is open Monday to Thursday from 6:30AM to 9:00PM, Friday from 6:30AM to 7:00PM, and weekends from 9:00AM to 6:00PM, with the club closed on public holidays. It's located at 65 Salamanca Rd, Kelburn, and can be reached by phone or email for bookings, membership questions, or coupon and single-game payments — all of which can also be handled directly through the club's online booking system.
The club is backed by a group of sponsors and supporters, including NZCT, Charles Hornabrook, Pelorus Trust and Squirrel, reflecting its standing as a long-running piece of community sporting infrastructure in Kelburn.
