Master Kong Wellington is an Asian street food bar and restaurant on the Wellington waterfront, part of Star Group, one of Aotearoa's largest hospitality operators. The venue serves a huge selection of shareable dishes spanning Chinese, Thai, Korean and Japanese-inspired street food, alongside a limited-edition handcrafted cocktail list, extensive wine and beer selection, and its own Kong Cha teapot cocktails. The food menu is organised for grazing, starting with snacks like Sriracha Honey Fried Chicken, Cheeseburger Wontons, and a Korean Prawn Toastie finished with gochujang and yuzu kewpie. The Fresh section brings lighter, herb-forward dishes to the table, including a Smashed Sichuan Cucumber Salad, a Som Tum Salad built on green papaya, and a Crudo of line-caught market fish with passionfruit ginger dressing. For groups of four or more, Master Kong offers a Feed Me set menu — a curated spread of edamame, shumai, dumplings, pad Thai, sweet and sour pork, fried rice and salad, all served Kong style for the table, with dessert available as an add-on. It's designed to take the decision-making out of ordering for larger groups while still covering the breadth of the menu.

A Serious Drinks List

Master Kong's cocktail programme is genuinely extensive, spanning creations like the sakura-infused Blossom Spritz, the tequila-based King Kobra, and the whisky and umeshu Midnight Plum.
