FITGym is Wānaka's family-owned, five-star gym — a purpose-built, light-filled training space created for locals and visitors alike. The people behind it bring a long history of gym ownership, management, athlete performance and personal training, and they've built the gym around three core values: inclusivity, accessibility and community.
The main floor is the largest, most light-filled gym in Wānaka, with hand-picked brands, machines and technology throughout: cardio machines looking out to the mountains, a dedicated athletic conditioning area, plenty of showers and bathrooms, and 24/7 access with no lock-in contracts. Whether you come to lift heavy, join a community or find some quiet time for yourself, there's space for it here.
Beyond the gym floor sits a separate, dedicated Recovery Room with infrared saunas, compression therapy, red light therapy rooms, massage chairs and five premium Pilates reformer machines running guided video classes. FITGym is also the only gym in the South Island with Technogym's latest Check Up assessment station, which evaluates physical and cognitive fitness across six key areas.
Membership is deliberately flexible — from 1-day casual passes to no-contract Gym Only and Premium All Access tiers and senior memberships — with perks and discounts at local businesses for recurring members. Staff are in the gym Monday to Thursday 9am–6pm and Fridays 9am–4pm, and you're always welcome to come in for a tour before signing up.
Walk into FITGym Wānaka and the first thing you notice is the light. Billed as the largest, most light-filled gym in Wānaka, the purpose-built space looks out to the mountains from its cardio row — a daily reminder of exactly where you are, and why staying strong for it matters. The gym's own tagline says it plainly: move better inside, move better outside.
FITGym is a local, family-owned business run by people with a long history of gym ownership, management, athlete performance and personal training. From its inception just over two years ago, the core values have been inclusivity, accessibility and community, and the gym has since earned its place as Wānaka's five-star, welcoming, safe, state-of-the-art training space — purpose built for the people local to and visiting Wānaka.
Whether you come to lift heavy, join a community or find quiet time for yourself, the space is set up to meet you where you are. First day ever in a gym? Expert, friendly trainers are ready to help. Training for a competition? There's a trainer for that too. The team openly acknowledges that gyms can be intimidating and works to reduce any barriers to walking through the door.
The main floor pairs hand-picked brands, machines and technology with genuine room to move. Cardio machines face the mountains, a dedicated athletic conditioning area holds every piece of equipment you may need, and there are plenty of showers and bathrooms. Gym Only members also have access to an Evolt 360 body scanner to track progress.
Beyond the gym floor sits FITGym's point of difference: a separate, dedicated Recovery Room built to help body and mind relax, restore and recharge. In it you'll find infrared saunas, compression therapy, red light therapy rooms and massage chairs to reach every tight and sore muscle. Alongside them are five premium Pilates reformer machines with guided video classes — you choose the time, intensity, program and experience level, and enjoy your own class.
FITGym is also the only gym in the South Island with Technogym's latest Check Up assessment station, which evaluates physical and cognitive fitness across six key areas — a genuinely science-led way to benchmark where you're at.
The options are deliberately flexible. Gym Only is a no-lock-in membership with 24/7 access, while Premium All Access adds the full recovery suite, the reformers and the Technogym Check Up. Senior memberships sit alongside both tiers, and the minimum age for any membership is 18.
For visitors, casual passes come in 1 Day, 3 Day, 1 Week and 1 Month options, in Gym Only or All Access versions, and are purchased and managed entirely online — no need to come in beforehand. That makes FITGym an easy stop for travellers who want to keep training, or recover properly, during a few days in Wānaka.
Membership stretches beyond the gym's walls, too. FITGym has partnered with local businesses so members on recurring memberships can redeem perks and discounts around town. Sign-up fees also contribute to local community organisations, and community events run through the year for those who come as much for the people as the programming.
Staff are in the gym between 9am and 6pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 4pm on Fridays for questions and support. Outside those hours, your phone is your key — 24/7 access at a tap, whether you're an early bird or a late-night lifter. If you're new to town or just FITGym-curious, you're always welcome to come in for a tour before signing up.
