Cameronian Pet Lodge is a pet boarding service on Totara Road in Ātiamuri, set in the Whirinaki Valley about 20 minutes southwest of Rotorua. The lodge was established in 1984 and is now run by Gared and Trichelle, with Trich bringing a background in grooming, veterinary nursing across the Bay of Plenty and Waikato, and kennel experience in Rotorua. Dogs are looked after outdoors in a secure, countryside setting, while cats have their own sheltered, sunny space with views of birds going by. Pets need to arrive with a current vaccination card, as the lodge can't take animals without seeing one first. Drop-off and pick-up run Monday to Friday from 8 to 10am and 3 to 5.30pm, Saturday mornings only, and Sunday afternoons only. Out in the Whirinaki Valley near Ātiamuri, this is a rural, long-running option for pet owners heading away from Rotorua.
