Viet Lane: Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine and Cocktails in Bayfair
Viet Lane opened in 2019 when its owners spotted a gap in Tauranga's hospitality scene for authentic Vietnamese cuisine. The idea behind the menu is a brilliant balance of aromatics, heat, sweetness, sourness and fish-sauciness, aiming to offer something for everyone.
A vibrant, stylish space
Alongside the food, Viet Lane has built a vibrant and stylish interior, described as suited to any occasion, whether that's a casual lunch, a dinner out, or drinks with friends.
An extensive drinks list
Viet Lane backs up its food with a serious drinks programme. The beer list runs from Heineken and Corona through to Vietnamese Saigon Beer, while the spirits shelf covers whisky and bourbon, gin, rum, vodka and tequila. The wine list spans sparkling, white, rosé and red options from Marlborough, Martinborough, Central Otago, Hawke's Bay and international regions including Italy and France.
Signature cocktails with a Vietnamese twist
Viet Lane's cocktail list leans into its Vietnamese identity, with drinks like the Vietlane Spritz (Aperol, orange, Vietnamese mint and prosecco), the Saigon Mule (lemongrass and mango vodka with ginger beer), and the BMT Breakfast, built around Vietnamese coffee, vodka and condensed milk. The Vietnamese G&T combines gin with lemongrass, mint and yuzu tonic, while the Pandan Daiquiri and Spiced Tamarind Margarita bring in pandan rum and chilli tequila respectively. For something virgin, there's a Virgin Mary mocktail.
Coffee, tea and non-alcoholic options
Beyond the bar, Viet Lane serves Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk, hot or cold, alongside a tea pot selection covering lemon and ginger, green tea, peppermint, liquorice, chamomile and herbal. Soft drinks, juices, kombucha and sparkling water round out the non-alcoholic list.
