About Allan Scott Bistro

Allan Scott Bistro sits between the vines and the Allan Scott Winery at 229 Jacksons Road, on Marlborough's Golden Mile between Rapaura and Old Renwick Roads, about 8km from Blenheim and 5km from Renwick. It's described as the perfect place to slow down, settle in, and feel right at home, open daily from 10am to 4pm.

Led by owner Matt Heath and the Picton Food Cartel team, the kitchen celebrates fresh, locally sourced ingredients from the sea, the farm, and the bistro's own garden. Seasonal dishes are thoughtfully crafted to pair with Allan Scott's award-winning wines, with a wine suggestion offered alongside many dishes on the current Winter 2026 menu, and platters designed for sharing with friends and family.

Guests can choose from a range of relaxed indoor and outdoor dining spaces — lounging on bean bags in the garden, an à la carte lunch beneath the vines, settling in under the pergola, or getting cosy indoors beside the fireplace. A kids menu is available, and the menu carries extensive gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan options throughout.

Allan Scott Bistro: Dining Among the Vines on Marlborough's Golden Mile

Set between the vines and the Allan Scott Winery on Jacksons Road, Allan Scott Bistro describes itself simply as the perfect place to slow down, settle in, and feel right at home. Positioned along Marlborough's Golden Mile, between Rapaura and Old Renwick Roads, it's about 8km from Blenheim and 5km from Renwick, and open daily from 10am to 4pm.

Where Good Food Meets Good Wine

The bistro's kitchen is led by owner Matt Heath alongside the Picton Food Cartel team, with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients pulled from the sea, the farm, and the bistro's own garden. The current Winter 2026 menu leans into that philosophy, with seasonal dishes thoughtfully crafted to pair with Allan Scott's own award-winning wines — many dishes come with a specific wine suggestion, from a glass of Cecilia Brut alongside the Marlborough Oysters Natural to a Black Label Pinot Noir matched with the Soy Braised Short Rib.

From Sharing Platters to Farm and Sea Mains

The menu opens with lighter starters like Artisan Sourdough with dukkah and house-made relish, or warmed, house-marinated Local Olives, before moving into platters built for sharing: a simple Cheeseboard, the more substantial Vineyard platter of cured meats, cheeses and smoked salmon, and a Seafood Platter for Two loaded with mussels, baked salmon, chowder, oysters, prawns, smoked salmon and squid tentacles.

From the sea, dishes range from Marlborough Oysters Natural and a lemongrass and coconut Seafood Chowder through to Oven Baked Salmon with a sesame crust and miso cauliflower. The Farm section brings heartier mains — Free Range Pork Belly, Canter Valley Duck Leg, Soy Braised Short Rib, and Pulled Lamb Shoulder — while The Garden offers a Soul Bowl and a Pumpkin Risotto Cake for vegetarian and vegan diners. Sides include Shoestring Fries with chilli kelp seasoning, Twice Cooked Agria Potato, Brussel Sprouts, and a Mixed Green Salad, and a kids menu is available for younger diners.

A Sweet Finish

Dessert brings Chocolate Lava Cake, Apple Crumble, Coconut Panna Cotta, Espresso Crème Brûlée, and Jack's Affogato, which can be ordered with a shot of Tia Maria, Drambuie, Frangelico, Cointreau, or simply naked. Dietary needs are well covered throughout the menu, with gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan options clearly marked on almost every dish.

The Setting

Part of what defines a visit to Allan Scott Bistro is the choice of where to sit. Guests can lounge on bean bags out in the garden, enjoy an à la carte lunch beneath the vines, settle in under the pergola, or get cosy indoors beside the fireplace — a range of relaxed indoor and outdoor spaces built to suit however guests want to spend their visit.

Beyond Lunch

Allan Scott Family Winemakers also uses the wider estate for weddings and private events, including Christmas functions and corporate celebrations for up to 250 guests, complete with exceptional food, award-winning wines and warm Kiwi hospitality. For everyday visits though, the bistro remains the heart of the experience — a relaxed, vine-side spot to eat well and drink Allan Scott wine in the setting it was made in.
