Seumus' Irish Bar & Restaurant first opened its doors on 13 February 2004 in Picton, and is the only Irish bar in town. Based on the Limavady bar 'Frank Owens' in Northern Ireland, it's designed as a more traditional, authentic Irish local, with wood everywhere in the custom-made booths, tables, chairs and stools, and decor built around old photographs with special meaning rather than bright flags and green memorabilia.
Seumus' splits into three rooms - the main bar, a restaurant room to the left, and a room to the right where musicians play on most nights of the week in summer and frequently over winter. A private beer garden sits at the rear of the pub, with dart games and a garden bar in summer, and a warm fire, Irish coffee and mulled wine in winter.
The pub has been recognised internationally, taking the title of Best Bar Person for the Asia, Africa, Middle East and Pacific region at the 2018 Irish Pubs Global awards, and in 2019 won Irish Pub of the Year and Best Irish Community Pub for the same region, going on to take the overall title of Best Global Irish Community Pub at the Irish Hospitality Global awards in Dublin. Shortlisted in three categories at the 2018 Irish Pubs Global awards, it took home the title of Best Bar Person for the Asia, Africa, Middle East and Pacific region. The following year, shortlisted in six categories at the 2019 Irish Hospitality Global awards, Seumus' won both Irish Pub of the Year and Best Irish Community Pub for the same region, before going on to win the overall title of Best Global Irish Community Pub at the awards ceremony held in Dublin in October 2019.
Seumus' is open Tuesday to Friday from 4pm until late, and Saturday from 3pm until late, with Sunday currently closed.
