About Club Vista

Club Vista is a social club and RSA at 32 Marine Parade, Paraparaumu Beach, formed in 2015 when The Kapiti Club and Paraparaumu RSA officially amalgamated. The Kapiti Club itself traces back to 1967, when a small group of local men first met to establish a men's club for the Paekakariki to Waikanae district, offering a bar, billiards and snooker, and a place for social fellowship.

Today, Club Vista describes itself as home to some of the best dining views at Paraparaumu Beach, alongside a range of social activities and interest groups covering cue sports, fishing, golf, entertainment and outdoor bowls. The club regularly runs quiz nights, raffles and giveaways, and members benefit from half-price taxi fares, helping make a night out safer and more affordable.

Membership is open to anyone aged 18 and over, and children are welcome when supervised. The club is currently undergoing its first major upgrade in 20 years, including a new Sports Lounge in the former Café Lane premises, an enlarged stage and dance floor, and an increase in 8-ball pool tables to support cue sports tournaments.

Club Vista: Social Club, RSA and Dining at Paraparaumu Beach

On Marine Parade at Paraparaumu Beach, Club Vista has grown out of two long-standing local institutions. The Kapiti Club was founded on 7 May 1967, when a group of local men, inspired by a conversation after a Rotary meeting, set out to establish a men's club for the district between Paekakariki and Waikanae, offering a bar, billiards and snooker and a place for genuine social fellowship. The club's early ambitions were bold, with founders discussing everything from a swimming pool lounge to tennis courts and accommodation, though progress in the early years was slow.

An amalgamation with deep roots

In 2015, The Kapiti Club officially amalgamated with the Paraparaumu RSA to form Club Vista - a name chosen to represent the club's outstanding view as well as the histories of both founding organisations. That view remains central to the club's identity today, with Club Vista describing itself as home to the best dining view at Paraparaumu Beach.

A club for all ages and interests

Club Vista today functions as a genuine community hub, offering a wide range of social activities and interest groups spanning cue sports, fishing, golf, entertainment and outdoor bowls. Regular quiz nights, raffles and giveaways keep the social calendar busy, and members enjoy the practical benefit of half-price taxi fares, making for a safer and more affordable night out. Membership is open to anyone 18 or older, and children are welcome as long as they're supervised.

Building for the future

Club Vista is currently in the middle of its first major upgrade in 20 years. After a Special General Meeting saw overwhelming support from more than 200 members, the Board has moved ahead with plans to create more space and improve services at the club. A building consent has been secured from council to construct a new Sports Lounge in the old Café Lane premises, backed by engineering, structural, fire and ventilation reports to ensure member safety.

Upstairs, the redevelopment includes removing the sliding partition wall, doubling the stage to a half-round shape, enlarging the dance floor, and increasing the number of 8-ball pool tables to four so the club can run proper cue sports tournaments. More dining tables are also planned, addressing current congestion during busy periods.

A club built on goodwill

Board Chair Guy Weaver has described Club Vista as the result of one of the most successful amalgamations in the country, operating with no debt and, in his words, 'views to die for.' With construction on the new Sports Lounge beginning and regular newsletter updates keeping members informed of progress, Club Vista is positioning itself for its next chapter while staying true to the social, community-focused roots both founding clubs were built on.
