Zenith Fitness on Tremaine Avenue is Palmerston North's self-described community gym, built on a simple promise: everybody is welcome, and everyone should feel comfortable in the gym space. The team's mission is to strip down the barriers and remove the intimidation that keeps people away from exercise, focusing instead on what matters — helping New Zealanders get fit, happy and healthy. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with an awesome team and a keen community that likes to work out and have fun doing it.
The club itself is a premier 24/7 facility with a well-planned layout centred on 'spaces within spaces': privacy when stretching, a dedicated free weights area with light and heavy zones, a functional training zone kitted out with TRX, and four private rooms for group fitness classes. It's air conditioned, kept clean and healthy, secured with high-quality systems, and comfortably spacious, with state-of-the-art equipment throughout.
There's plenty beyond the gym floor too: high-energy adult boxing including a Skills Class and Ladies Only sessions, Youth Boxing and the gaming-inspired Zenith Rift for teens aged 10–15, a Recovery Zone with two premium infrared saunas and on-site massage therapy from Motu Massage, five on-site personal trainers, nutritional plans, corporate options, and the Zenith Kids babysitting service on weekday mornings. A dedicated women's space is coming soon.
On Tremaine Avenue in Palmerston North's CBD, Zenith Fitness has made its name by doing something deceptively simple: making the gym feel welcoming. The team's mission is to cater for all types of people — everybody is welcome, and everyone should feel comfortable within the gym space. They set out to strip down the barriers and remove the intimidation that keeps so many away from exercise, focusing instead on what's important: helping New Zealanders get fit, happy and healthy. The result is a relaxed, friendly community gym where a workout is something to look forward to.
Zenith's layout is built on the idea of 'spaces within spaces'. There's privacy when you stretch, a dedicated area for free weights with both light and heavy zones, a functional training zone kitted out with TRX, and four private rooms for group fitness classes. The club runs 24/7 for members and is air conditioned, kept clean and healthy, and monitored with high-quality security — so you can train early or late with peace of mind. Add state-of-the-art equipment, plenty of space, and a team on staff six days a week, and it's an easy place to spend time in.
If one thing defines Zenith, it's boxing. The ZF Boxing programme welcomes absolute beginners through to experienced boxers, with coach-led sessions that teach real techniques while building fitness, confidence and coordination. The Skills Class is a high-energy, full-body workout requiring zero prior experience; the Ladies Only sessions deliver the same workout in a supportive environment designed exclusively for women.
Members have options too: a dedicated Boxing Membership with unlimited classes, boxing added onto any existing Zenith membership, or the Green Card Membership, which bundles unlimited boxing with gym and group fitness access plus exclusive member benefits. Members credit these classes with changing how they think about fitness — one, Sam Hasan, says a single lunchtime box fit class turned him from a bored treadmill user into someone genuinely fitness-focused.
Young people get their own pathways at Zenith. Youth Boxing classes build confidence, fitness, discipline and resilience in a safe, supportive and fun environment, with experienced coaches developing boxing skills alongside respect, teamwork and healthy habits. For teens aged 10–15 there's Zenith Rift, a gaming-inspired fitness class that turns exercise into fun challenges, teamwork and real-life missions, building strength, confidence and fitness along the way.
Recovery gets its own dedicated zone. Two premium infrared saunas feature colour light therapy — red for recovery, circulation and muscle support, blue for calm and stress relief, green for balance, yellow for energy and mental clarity, and more — letting members customise each session. On-site massage therapy from Motu Massage rounds out the offering. Sauna access is for authorised Recovery Zone members, who book their session before arrival and follow a few simple house rules: a towel on the seat, clean clothing or swimwear, and no food, glass containers, oils or lotions inside.
Zenith has thought about the practical barriers too. The Zenith Kids babysitting service runs Monday to Friday, 9–10:30am, so parents can train knowing their little ones are supervised and entertained by a friendly team. Five personal trainers operate from the gym — including Mumzy Bubzy Fitness, Motu Massage, Hardcore Strength and Fitness, and Insane Beast Athletic — with nutritional plans and corporate options also available, and a dedicated women's space coming soon. Staffed hours run Monday to Thursday 10am–6pm, Friday 9am–1pm and Saturday 9:30–11:30am, and memberships can be signed up for online. Call 06 355 0833, email the team, or drop in and have a chat — they'll help you find the membership that's right for you.
