About Percy Cafe

Percy Cafe on Te Kapua Drive in Mangere, Auckland takes its name from a slice of aviation history: in 1934 a man named Percy built a plane and named it Percy as well, and after Jean became the first person to fly from Britain to New Zealand in 1936, the plane went on display at Auckland Airport, which was later named after her. Inspired by that legacy, the team invites you to pop in, park up, and take a quick bite or a long lunch — Percy is the place.

The menu is familiar but fresh, focused on New Zealand flavours and produce, and poured with local pride: Atomic Coffee, Brothers Beer and Batchwell Kombucha on the drinks list, Zealong Organic Tea brewed from Hamilton leaves, and classic Kiwi brands like Whittaker's and Fix and Fogg featuring on the menu.

With plenty of space to park, play and plan, Percy is a natural home for everything from sunrise coffees and long lunches to business meetings — the team takes the stress out of hosting clients by giving you a space of your own with exceptional food and impeccable service. A full catering menu of sweet baking, share platters, salads and lunches extends the Percy table to offices and events, with dietary requirements happily catered for given notice.

Percy Cafe, Mangere: New Zealand Flavours, Local Coffee and Easy Catering on Te Kapua Drive

Naming a cafe after a man who named a plane after himself is the kind of story that sticks with you. In 1934, a man named Percy built a plane and named it Percy as well. Then, in 1936, a woman named Jean became the first person to fly from Britain to New Zealand — a remarkable feat that led to the plane being displayed at Auckland Airport, which was later named after her. Inspired by Percy's legacy, the team behind this cafe chose to carry his name forward, opening Percy Cafe on Te Kapua Drive in Mangere, Auckland.

The invitation is simple and has never changed: pop in, park up, take a quick bite or a long lunch. Percy is the place. Whether you are an early riser chasing a coffee and a sunrise or settling in for a leisurely lunch with colleagues, there is room for you here.

Space to park, play and plan

Percy was built with space in mind — plenty of it. There is ample room to park, and just as much room to settle in. That makes it a natural fit for business: finding the perfect space to host clients for important lunches and meetings can be an art, and the Percy team takes the stress out of it, letting you entertain in a space of your own with exceptional food and impeccable service.

Regulars notice the care. Reviews praise the amazing service and good atmosphere — one guest even gave a special shout-out to Bullet, their table server. Early morning visitors describe watching the sunrise over the surrounding buildings as therapeutic, whether reflecting alone or with colleagues. Families come back too: one mother brought her daughters in for a celebratory breakfast and left already planning the next visit for lunch.

A familiar but fresh New Zealand menu

The menu at Percy is familiar but fresh, focused on New Zealand flavours and produce. The drinks list pours local: Atomic Coffee for your flat white, Brothers Beer for the craft-minded and Batchwell Kombucha for something brighter. Tea drinkers are covered with Zealong Organic Tea from Hamilton, and classic New Zealand brands like Whittaker's and Fix and Fogg feature on the menu.

That same Kiwi spirit carries into Percy's catering menu, built for offices, events and gatherings of every size. The sweet range is a tour of classic New Zealand baking — raspberry and chocolate lamingtons, chocolate sponge, vanilla and berry cake, blueberry danishes, date and cheese scones, plus chocolate brownie and chocolate- and coconut-caramel slices.

Platters, salads and lunches made to share

Each catering platter serves up to ten people. The afternoon brings Percy's Afternoon Platter with chicken skewers, prawn twister, falafel and a lamington, popcorn chicken boxes in three sizes, a seasonal fruit platter with honey yoghurt, and an antipasto platter loaded with cured meats, cheese, house pickles, olives, hummus, fruit paste and crackers.

Salads serve eight to ten people and span garden, potato, Caesar, pasta and a punchy Thai salad with fresh mint, cilantro and roasted peanuts. Lunch options include lunch boxes with a wrap, salad and sweet slice, classic sliders in chicken, beef and tofu, and sandwich and wrap platters built from combinations like smoked chicken, pulled pork, falafel, chicken and brie, katsu pork, and mushroom and halloumi.
