Te Ara Hura – "W" Bay trail is a hiking area at 64 Korora Road in Oneroa, Waiheke Island, and it holds a 5.0 Google rating from walkers.
Island coastal walking is as much about timing as distance. The ground shifts between sand, rock, clay and bush steps, so shoes with grip count for more than kilometres covered, and clay sections turn slick after rain. Regulars start early to beat the summer sun on exposed headlands, carry more water than seems necessary, and often walk one bay-to-bay stretch rather than a whole network in a day, finishing with a swim.
