About DRD Builders

DRD Builders is a building and construction company based at 16 Moa St, Lower Hutt, servicing Wellington, the Hutt Valley and Wellington's Northern Suburbs. Led by directors Jesse Dyson and Hadleigh De Reus — both trade-qualified carpenters and Licensed Building Practitioners — the team takes pride in every project it delivers, from first conversation to final handover.

The company's work spans residential, landscaping and light commercial building: home renovations, alterations and additions, home maintenance, new homes, restoration work, kitchens and bathrooms; decks, fences, retaining walls, pergolas and patios; and shop fit outs and partitioning. Remediation and leaky home projects are also among the project types it handles.

Its principles are simple: honesty and integrity, professional workmanship of the highest standard, effective communication, and delivering your project on time. Jesse brings almost 20 years' industry experience, further study in Business Management and Construction Management, and an Apprentice of the Year award from the Wellington Regional Master Builders Competition; Hadleigh has been in the trade since 17 and is known for scrupulous attention to detail.

DRD Builders: Licensed Builders in Lower Hutt for Renovations, New Homes and Outdoor Living

DRD Builders is a building and construction company based in Lower Hutt, servicing Wellington, the Hutt Valley and Wellington's Northern Suburbs. Led by two trade-qualified directors, the team takes on everything from major home renovations and new builds to decks, kitchens, bathrooms and light commercial fit outs — guided by a philosophy the company sums up in five words: we take pride in your project.

The people behind the name

DRD Builders is led by directors Jesse Dyson and Hadleigh De Reus, both trade-qualified carpenters and Licensed Building Practitioners. Jesse brings almost 20 years of experience in the building and construction industry. His role centres on pricing, sales and development, and he is passionate about creating systems that maximise efficiency and keep jobs running smoothly. As an apprentice he was named Apprentice of the Year in the Wellington Regional Master Builders Competition, and he has since completed further study in Business Management and Construction Management, adding previous experience in Commercial Construction Project Management.

Hadleigh has been in the trade since the age of 17 and loves residential renovations — especially improving a home to a high standard that clients are rapt with. He is passionate about build quality. Early in his training he learned that scrupulous attention to detail at every stage of a project is vital to achieving a finish that both the client and the builder can be proud of. 'Close enough is good enough' is not part of his vocabulary: the aim is a high-quality result from the foundations right through to completion.

What they build

The company completes a wide range of building projects across three streams. Residential work covers home renovations, alterations and additions, home maintenance, new homes, restoration work, and new kitchens and bathrooms — with remediation and leaky home projects also among the project types listed on its enquiry form.

Outdoors, DRD handles landscape construction of every kind: decks, fences, retaining walls, pergolas and patios, extending living space beyond the back door. For light commercial clients, the team undertakes shop fit outs and partitioning.

How they work

DRD Builders sets out to take the stress and hassle out of a project by respecting you as a customer, communicating constantly so you are always kept up to date, and taking the time to guide you through every step. The team also liaises with and manages third parties as required — architects, engineers, sub trades and council — so you are not left coordinating the paperwork and the players yourself.

Underneath it all are some simple principles: honesty and integrity, professional workmanship of the highest standard, effective communication, and delivering your project on time. The company describes itself as client based — it cares about what its clients want — and counts on delivering high-quality work with a value-added service.

Getting started

Enquiring is straightforward. You can call or email Jesse (021 982 122, [email protected]) or Hadleigh (021 862 014, [email protected]) directly, or use the enquiry form on the website. The form asks for your site location, the project type, a description of what you want to achieve, when you would like to start and your ideal completion date.

It also asks whether you have an ideal budget in mind. The team can help guide you on costings, but an indication of what you have budgeted is genuinely helpful at the first stage — as is knowing whether that budget covers construction only or also design fees, surveying and engineering. If you have already engaged builders, consultants or designers, they would like to know that too.

Whether it is adding an extension, building a new deck, a major renovation or fitting a new kitchen or bathroom, DRD Builders says it has you covered — an experienced, confident team that stands by its work and always delivers, across Wellington, the Hutt Valley and the Northern Suburbs.
