A Filipino-owned massage day spa at 485 Papanui Road in Papanui, Christchurch, Bamboo Spa is part of a national brand that began with its first branch almost 10 years ago. The brand offers traditional hilot-inspired massage, including Filipino hilot, head, back, Swedish and foot and leg reflexology, as well as facial services. Cupping is also among the treatments, one customer said. Its therapists are trained in technique and in care, and the brand describes its approach as being looked after like family.
Customers praise the pressure, which is firm without being hard, the knot work across the body, and the service. One customer said the full-body massage was the best they had had and said it was worth the money. The brand's website says it has more than 110 staff nationwide, and that six former staff have gone on to run their own franchises.
