The Church Pub is housed in the historic Trinity Church, a Category I heritage building listed with Heritage New Zealand. The building was damaged in the 2010 Canterbury earthquake and red-stickered after the February 2011 Christchurch earthquake, putting it at risk of demolition like many other central city heritage buildings. In June 2012 it was announced the building would be saved, repaired, and earthquake strengthened — it's now home to The Church Pub.
The kitchen is known for 12" Napoli-style woodfired pizza, made fresh daily and run independently from the rest of the kitchen, alongside a brunch and larger-plates menu available until 3pm. The venue runs weekly specials under its 'Winter Comforts' banner, plus a Monday night Quiz Night, and is dog friendly.

The pub's food centres on a woodfired pizza kitchen turning out 12" Napoli-style pizzas, made fresh every day. The pizza kitchen operates independently from the rest of the kitchen, so pizzas come out as they're ready rather than in a fixed order with other dishes. Gluten-free bases and vegan cheese are both available for an extra $2, though the pub notes that its pizza isn't suited for coeliac diners, and asks guests to flag any food allergies in advance.
Alongside pizza, The Church runs a brunch and larger-plates menu available until 3pm, featuring dishes like Fish & Chips, Eggs Any Style, a Chicken, Bacon & Eggs Benedict, and a Mushroom Linguine. Full, kids', and lunch menus are also available as separate downloadable menus.
The Church runs a Quiz Night every Monday at 7pm, with a note that only tables inside the venue can be booked for it. Under its 'Winter Comforts' banner, the pub also runs a rotating set of weekly deals: Taco Tuesday (2 for 1 tacos, 5pm-7pm), Wings Wednesday (dollar wings, 5pm-7pm), and Super Chook Sunday ($20 for a whole chicken and fries).
The Church is open seven days a week from 11am, offers Church Guest WiFi, and is a dog-friendly establishment. For groups larger than 30, bookings need to go through a direct enquiry rather than the standard booking system, and the venue also hosts functions and celebrations more broadly.
