Mutts Be Nice is a mobile dog grooming service, based on Arapawa Street in Belfast, that brings its grooming unit to the dog's own address anywhere in Christchurch. The distinctive part is that a dog is groomed at home, which suits dogs that find a salon stressful.
The services run from a simple bath and blow dry through to full grooms. A wash and dry includes a full clipper or scissor cut, a breed style trim and a sanitary tidy, and it suits dogs whose coats grow on all the time and need regular shaping. A lighter wash and dry, with a nail trim, is for dogs who need a refresh between full trims or who do not need clipping. Ear cleaning and de-matting are also offered.
The service has an add-on for double-coated and heavy-shedding breeds, and the website names German Shepherds, Border Collies, Huntaways, Retrievers and Spitz as examples. For a dog that sheds a lot at home or loses its undercoat, the add-on is booked with a wash.
