Health Potential Clinic, at 4 Gwynfa Avenue in Cashmere, Christchurch, is run by Nicola O'Neill, a degree-qualified registered Naturopath, Medical Herbalist and Nutritionist with over 25 years of clinical practice. Nicola works full time seeing women, men and children, and particularly enjoys working with hormonal and reproductive health.
Nicola graduated from the Australasian College of Natural Therapies in 2000 with an Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy, alongside a Bachelor of Health Science from the University of New England, and has practiced as a registered Naturopath since 2000. She is a member of Naturopaths and Medical Herbalists of New Zealand and regularly attends seminars and training in New Zealand and Australia to stay current with the natural health industry.
The clinic holds an extensive in-house dispensary with practitioner-range supplements, herbal medicine and Bach flower remedies, which Nicola can dispense following a consultation. Her approach is grounded in the belief that the body can heal itself when given the right nutrients and support, with her role being to diagnose disruption and gently guide the body back into balance.
Health Potential Clinic, at 4 Gwynfa Avenue in Cashmere, Christchurch, is run by Nicola O'Neill, a degree-qualified registered Naturopath, Medical Herbalist and Nutritionist with over 25 years of clinical practice.
Nicola graduated from the Australasian College of Natural Therapies in 2000 with an Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy, alongside a Bachelor of Health Science from the University of New England. She holds qualifications including BHSc (Nat), an Advanced Naturopathy Diploma, and diplomas in homeopathy, nutrition, botanical medicine and reiki (Dip. R.M.). She is a member of Naturopaths and Medical Herbalists of New Zealand and regularly attends seminars and training courses in both New Zealand and Australia to keep up with the evolving natural health field.
Working full time in general clinical practice, Nicola sees women, men and children, with a particular interest in hormonal and reproductive health. Before becoming a naturopath, she had a varied career in education and elderly care, and still enjoys visiting schools to talk to students about naturopathy when she can.
The clinic holds an extensive dispensary with practitioner-range supplements, herbal medicine and Bach flower remedies, which Nicola can dispense following a consultation, so patients can leave with a tailored plan rather than needing to source products elsewhere.
Nicola's approach to naturopathy is grounded in the belief that the body can heal itself when given the right nutrients and support. When an imbalance disrupts the body's normal rhythms, symptoms can appear, and her role is to diagnose that disruption and gently guide the body back into harmony.
The clinic sits up a short walk from Hackthorne Road: visitors are asked to park on Hackthorne Road itself and walk up Gwynfa Avenue a few houses to number 4, then through the black gate and up the steps to the clinic. Anyone needing assistance walking up the steps is encouraged to let Nicola know in advance.
Health Potential Clinic is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with Wednesday and Thursday running later into the evening, while Tuesday is kept as an administration day. Office administrator Mandi can help with booking enquiries, re-ordering supplements, and general questions.
