Mecano Automotive Ltd is a mechanic on Nga Mahi Road in Sockburn, on Christchurch's western side, and it holds a solid 4.4 Google rating.
A good workshop shows its worth in the small things: phoning before carrying out work beyond the original quote, handing back the worn parts it replaced, and providing a proper itemised invoice. In New Zealand it helps to know the difference between a Warrant of Fitness and a service — a WOF only confirms a car is legal on the day, while regular servicing covers the oil, filters and wear items that keep it reliable between checks. Many long-time drivers stick with one garage so the car's history stays on file, and word of mouth among neighbours and workmates remains the surest way to find a mechanic worth trusting.
For Sockburn locals and anyone commuting through west Christchurch, that makes this Nga Mahi Road workshop a handy option for everyday mechanical work.
