Mali's Motors is a mechanic on Racecourse Road in Sockburn, Christchurch, holding a perfect 5.0 rating on Google; news and updates appear on its Facebook page. In New Zealand, a Warrant of Fitness is a safety check rather than a full mechanical inspection, so the servicing that happens between WOFs is what keeps a car genuinely healthy — brakes, suspension, oil leaks and timing belts all wear long before they fail a test. Good mechanics explain what needs doing now and what can safely wait, and are happy to show you the worn part they've replaced. Getting to know a local garage pays off too: odd noises and warning lights get looked at early, before small fixes turn into big invoices. For drivers around Sockburn and the west of Christchurch, that kind of straightforward, well-reviewed work sits close at hand on Racecourse Road.
