Inspire Health Clinical Massage Therapy is a clinic at 1 Filly Place in Yaldhurst, Christchurch, with a second site at 33 Tanner Street in Woolston. Its distinctive feature is the therapist's background: Dorothy Lee trained in dance and ballet, dancing from 1985 to 2009, and turned to sports massage after her own injuries. She has a bachelor's degree in dance, a diploma in sports massage therapy and a certificate as a yoga trainer, and she has worked as a sports massage therapist for nearly 20 years.
The clinic offers deep tissue, soft tissue and sports massage for injuries and rehabilitation, along with relaxation massage, hot stone massage and remedial massage. The website says deep tissue work uses firm pressure and slow strokes for muscle stiffness or recovery from injury, and that hot stone massage helps ease tension through warm stones. Clients have included office workers, gym-goers and elite sports teams, including rugby, baseball and cricket players.
People who have written reviews describe the sessions as thorough, with the pressure right for them, and praise Dorothy's anatomy knowledge. One reviewer travels from Ashburton to see her regularly. The clinic has a calm, tranquil setting, according to its website.
