A seaside market held in the New Brighton Pedestrian Mall, along Brighton Mall in New Brighton, Christchurch. The mall runs from Marine Parade, opposite the clock tower, to the children's play area at the edge of the beach road. The market has stalls selling crafts and local products, food stalls, live entertainment, activities for children and free face painting. Customers mention the stalls most often, and the beach location too. One customer says it runs from 10am to 2pm on Saturdays, and another says the market has oversized games such as chess. The market is also home to Our Bright Town, a shadow-catching mural in the mall made with 172 shadows of local people. The organisers say they are always looking for new stallholders, especially for handmade and New Zealand-made goods.
Customers describe the stall holders as proud of their products and happy to talk, and say there are many talented people. One visitor found it a reasonable local market with a few local suppliers, and said honey and timber products were on sale. Another said there were so many stalls that it was hard to take it all in. The beach is a short walk away, and one customer recommended a coffee at a café about five minutes away from the end of the market.
