The Mental Health Education & Resource Centre, known as MHERC, is a free information centre and lending library for mental health, based on level 1 of 12 Hazeldean Road in Addington, Christchurch. It gives free information on mental health, addictions and wellbeing to anyone in Christchurch and across the South Island, and helps people find services and resources for themselves or someone else. Its library holds books on mental health, and membership is free. Postage to and from the library is also free, so people outside Christchurch can borrow too. The centre runs professional development, short courses and webinars for mental health providers and the community, and has a conference room. Its website also hosts an online guide to conditions, including eating disorders, and a directory of services that people can add to.
Customers praise the library's selection of books and resources, and say the staff are lovely and very helpful. One reviewer says the site is quiet despite road works outside, and that the conference room is modern. Another calls the information marvellous. Reviewers mention the books most often.
