Amanda's passion for insurance isn't abstract — it comes from personal experience. Originally from the Bay of Plenty, she grew up in remote areas of the Central North Island, the daughter of a school teacher and a rural school dental nurse. At 16, her father was tragically killed in a car accident. In the weeks before the accident, her parents had been weighing up the cost of their life insurance while trying to cut costs with four teenagers in the house.
Because that life insurance policy was in place, Amanda's mother was able to pay off the mortgage on the family home, and her younger sisters were able to finish their education. Amanda has said that life would have been very different without it — and from a young age, she came to believe deeply in both having insurance in place and making sure it stays affordable, so it's there when it's needed most.
During a successful career in the finance industry, both in New Zealand and internationally, Amanda became increasingly aware of the value of good advice. She found that many people were poorly insured, or had taken out cover without proper advice, leaving them paying too much for inadequate protection. That observation shaped the advisory practice she runs today.
