IHF Health Club is a full-service fitness and wellness club spread across twelve hundred square metres of light-filled space on Level 1 of The Crossing, in the heart of Christchurch's central city. It's positioned as an inner-city sanctuary — a place where premium fitness, restorative recovery and genuine hospitality meet, and where wellness is held, not hurried.
The club is built on four pillars: Move, Flow, Connect and Recover. The gym floor pairs Hammer Strength equipment with Life Fitness cardio and a functional training zone, while three dedicated studios host PRAMA — IHF is Christchurch's only PRAMA location — IHF Ride indoor cycling and infrared yoga. More than sixty classes run weekly, spanning HIIT, boxing, strength, Ride, infrared yoga, mat Pilates and meditation, all included in membership and open to every level.
Recovery gets equal billing: cedar saunas and cold plunge pools sit in both the men's and women's quarters, plus a saltwater plunge in the Premium area. On-site specialists offer remedial and relaxation massage, physiotherapy, osteopathy, chiropractic care and nutrition guidance. Between sessions, members linger in a lounge with a Macro Kitchen café serving chef-prepared smoothies, chia puddings, bagels and bowls, alongside complimentary coffee, tea and the club's own Hydrate sparkling water. Members enjoy 24/7 access, towel service, luxury locker rooms and two hours of free parking at The Crossing; casual day and week passes welcome visitors.
On Level 1 of The Crossing, above the bustle of Cashel Mall, IHF Health Club has set out to reimagine what a central-city gym can feel like. Twelve hundred square metres of light-filled architecture hold a full-service club where fitness, recovery and hospitality sit under one warm roof — an inner-city sanctuary where wellness is held, not hurried.
Everything here is organised around four pillars — Move, Flow, Connect and Recover — and every membership includes all of them. There's no paywall between you and the yoga room, the sauna or the café; it's one membership, everything in.
The Move pillar anchors the club. The strength floor is kitted out with Hammer Strength equipment, backed by a light-filled cardio area of premium Life Fitness machines and a functional training zone. Around it sit three dedicated studios: one for PRAMA — IHF is Christchurch's only PRAMA location — one for IHF Ride indoor cycling, and an infrared-heated yoga room.
More than sixty classes run each week, programmed from early-morning Ride sessions like LITE and Zone to BURN-style PRAMA workouts, Yoga Ignite, the gentler Sweet n Slow flow, mat Pilates, breathwork and meditation. Instructors are qualified, classes cater to beginners through seasoned members, and casual visitors are welcome to book in too.
Recovery gets the same design attention as training. Cedar saunas and cold plunge pools sit in both the men's and women's quarters, with a saltwater plunge reserved for the Premium area — the kind of setup that turns a workout into a proper reset. Luxurious locker rooms supply towels, GHD hair dryers and straighteners and Ashley & Co amenities, so members can leave as polished as they arrived.
Beyond the plunge, an integrated wellness team offers remedial and relaxation massage, physiotherapy, hands-on osteopathy through Osteoflow's Therese Arno, chiropractic care with EOS Align, and nutrition guidance — all bookable alongside training.
Few clubs have a members lounge like IHF's. The Macro Kitchen turns out chef-prepared meals — protein-packed smoothies, chia puddings, bagels and nourishing bowls — while coffee, tea and the club's exclusive sparkling water, Hydrate, are on the house. It's a space built for lingering, and it doubles as the social heart of a community the club describes as one that inspires you to show up and be better, together.
One-on-one health coaching is a core part of the offer. Members can mix and match coaches — the team includes Health Club Manager Johnny Smit and Head Health Coach Jordi Harris, alongside coaches including Zackary Gray, Tom Goode, Therese Arno, Ariana Candy, Olivia Reid and Samantha Aitken — with sessions up to an hour, monthly check-ins, nutrition guidance and, on higher-touch plans, recovery integration and quarterly assessments.
The club sits on Level 1 of The Crossing, along the right side of the arcade walkway heading toward the Ballantynes airbridge, overlooking Cashel Mall. Reception is staffed Monday to Friday from 6am to 8pm and weekends from 7am to 6pm; members access the club 24/7 with two cards issued at sign-up — one for the club, one for The Crossing entry outside staffed hours. New enquiries don't need an appointment; just walk in.
Parking is straightforward: two hours free per visit at The Crossing carpark off Lichfield Street — take a ticket on entry, validate it at the in-club machine and settle it at the level 1 payment machines before leaving. Casual day, premium day, week and 10-visit concession passes are available for anyone not ready to commit, and all include full class access. Book through the IHF app or website, email [email protected] or call 0508 443 258.
