Christchurch United Gymnastics Club runs gymnastics classes from Yaldhurst Road in western Christchurch, with a perfect 5.0 rating, sessions weekday afternoons and evenings plus Saturdays, and updates via its Facebook page.
Gymnastics clubs typically sort children into classes by age and stage, from preschool movement sessions through recreational grades to competitive squads, and most enrol by the school term rather than drop-in. Progress is measured in skills — a handstand held, a cartwheel landed — and the sport quietly builds balance, strength and confidence that carry into other sports. A good club keeps groups small and progressions sensible, and will happily let a new child try a session first. Regulars come in fitted gear with hair tied back, and know popular class times fill early in the term.
For families around Yaldhurst, Riccarton and Hornby, it's a handy western-Christchurch spot for after-school and Saturday gymnastics.
