About St Albans Medical Centre

St Albans Medical Centre is an independent general practice at 250 Springfield Road in St Albans, Christchurch, which says it has cared for the local community for more than 45 years. Doctors work alongside one-to-one practice nurses, and the practice has an onsite health improvement practitioner, a health coach and administrative staff. Remedy Pharmacy, Mole Screen and Merivale Physiotherapy also operate on site. The practice is open Monday to Thursday, 8am to 5:30pm, and Friday, 8am to 5pm. Reception can be called on 03 355 9119.

We hear the practice is currently taking new enrolments on a priority basis, for new arrivals to Christchurch without a local GP who live in the practice area, and that all enrolments depend on capacity. Flu vaccines for 2026 are listed from 1 April. The funded Influvax Tetra is for people over 65 or eligible, and it costs $35 for under-65s without qualifying conditions, as at 2026. Flucelvax costs $43, and Fluad, for those 65 and over, costs $45, both as at 2026. Customers' views are mixed. One says the team has been fantastic and they have never had a bad experience. Another was told the practice was not taking new patients, and a flatmate was given a waiting list form. A third describes a poor experience on two visits with a sick child.
