The Belfast Community Network (BCN) is a community-led incorporated society based at Sheldon Park in Belfast, Christchurch, established in 2001 by a group of local community leaders. Operating under the motto 'Best for Belfast', BCN works to connect residents, support local groups, and deliver programmes and events that address real community needs — planned in direct conversation with the people they serve.
BCN's programmes span several areas of community life. Belfast Active Senior Support (BASS) provides group programmes and one-on-one support for elderly residents. Kā Pūtahi Youth offers an exciting programme for Year 7 to Year 9 students. The Belfast Emergency Response Plan (BERP) is a collaboratively developed community response framework for disasters and local emergencies. Community events including the Sheldon Skate Jam, Fresh in the Park (a free outdoor event for children and young people at Sheldon Park), Slice of Summer, and Simply Lunch are run throughout the year.
BCN has also extended its reach into neighbouring Northcote/Redwood through Neighbourhood Links. The organisation is supported by volunteers and community donations, and welcomes anyone with a heart for the community to get involved.
