Parklands Playcentre is a parent-participation early childhood centre on Queenspark Drive in Parklands, Christchurch, for children aged 0 to 6. Parents come along with their children, so play, learning and running the centre are shared. Children choose their own activities through free, child-led play, and the centre sets out 16 areas of play under Te Whāriki, the national early childhood curriculum. Siblings can attend together, and older children mentor younger ones. Parents can also take a free, NZQA-approved adult education programme. The centre says it has been part of the national Playcentre movement, which is marking 85 years this year. Three visits are offered before enrolment. Nearby, BestStart Parklands and Kidsfirst Kindergartens Parklands are both within 300 metres, and Kidsfirst has 4.8 from 7 reviews on Open Locally.
