A Christian early childhood centre at 37 Brougham Street in Addington, Christchurch, with a Samoan heritage. It has a nursery for babies and toddlers, with its own outdoor space, and a preschool for older children. The centre says children are immersed in Samoan language and culture through stories, songs and activities, and that all children are welcome to take part.
Learning is based on children's interests, with interactive Bible stories, songs, prayers and hands-on activities. Four-year-olds have activities to prepare them for school, including early numeracy and literacy games. The centre says its programme is also grounded in the Treaty of Waitangi.
Opening hours are Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 4.30pm. Flexible hours and sessions are available, and the centre is open during school holidays, but closed over Christmas. It offers 20 hours of ECE for three and four-year-olds. Open Locally lists four other childcare centres within a kilometre, including Kidsfirst Kindergartens Selwyn Street, about 0.4 km away.
