Kelly Club Sumner provides before- and after-school and holiday care for students of Sumner School, from 15 Colenso Street in Sumner, Christchurch. Its website says it serves students of the school in Scarborough, Richmond Hill, Taylors Mistake and Moncks Bay. Programmes include cooking and baking, discovery activities, sports, arts and crafts, homework and time to relax. Staff are trained in behaviour management, health and safety, first aid and art and craft. The programme meets the Ministry of Social Development's OSCAR standards, so eligible families can use the subsidy. Booking uses flexible payment plans, with same-day booking and cancellations. The website also says bookings support the school through a revenue-share model.
Parents and children speak well of it. One child asked to stay full time after a first attendance, and a parent says their daughter does not want to leave because she is having such a good time with the activities and her friends. Reviewers often mention the caring staff and the range of activities. Two other childcare listings are within a kilometre: Kidsfirst Kindergartens Sumner, 0.1 km away, has no rating on Open Locally, and Pebbles Montessori, 0.4 km away, is also rated 5.0, from 7 reviews.
