About Fingerprints Christian Preschool

Fingerprints is a Christian preschool on Wilsons Road in St Martins, Christchurch, for children aged two to five. It welcomes families of all faiths, cultures and backgrounds. The day has a morning kai at 9.45, a group time at 11.30 built around a Bible theme for the term, and lunch together between 11.45 and 12. Children may rest or sleep after lunch if they want to.

Children choose from a wide range of activities that support literacy, numeracy, science, art, music, physical play and social skills, and the teachers run group learning and a transition-to-school programme. The centre takes short walks in the local area as part of its projects. For a child starting for the first time, the centre asks families to set aside time to settle them in, and staff help with that process. A comforter from home is welcome, though other toys are kept at home.

The preschool asks families to pack healthy food and a water-only bottle each day, and to name everything. Two changes of clothes and, for children in nappies, at least four named nappies are needed. Wipes are provided. Gumboots and slippers are recommended in winter, and crocs and jandals are not allowed on the climbing equipment.
