A daytime cafe on Victoria Street in central Christchurch, open since 1999, that bakes its own European hearth bread on site. Everything else is prepared in the cafe from high-quality ingredients. Breakfast runs until 2pm daily, and you order at the counter. The egg dishes use Oxford free-range eggs, served on toasted sourdough, wholegrain, honey vienna, ciabatta or focaccia, with options such as streaky bacon, kransky, mushroom, tomato relish and potato hash. Other breakfast choices include poached eggs with hollandaise and grilled tomatoes, and a brioche with grilled banana, yoghurt, maple syrup and berry compote. Lunch includes a peppered chicken ciabatta with avocado smash, a smoked chicken and brie ciabatta, and a grilled haloumi sandwich with sundried tomato and gherkin. The website says the menu can change and that some items may not always be available.
