The Book Cellar is a second-hand bookshop in the basement rooms under Cashmere Presbyterian Church, with its entrance from Dyers Pass Road in Cashmere, Christchurch. The shop sells fiction, non-fiction, children's titles, biographies and jigsaw puzzles. It is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm. Donations of books are welcome on those days, or they can be left at the church office on Monday or Tuesday mornings. The shop held a sale to mark its first year, with books from $2 each. The church above it is a Group 3 historic building, designed in the Gothic style by the Christchurch architects Cecil Wood and Richard Harman, with a steeply pitched grey slate roof. Its foundation stone was laid in 1928, so browsing the books in the basement means visiting a building with a long history.
